– about ebb & flo –
ebb & flo bookshop is an independent bookshop based in the Lancashire market town of Chorley.
We love books a lot. We support the shop local movement and want our bookshop to make an important contribution to the Chorley high street and community. Chorley is a Totally Locally town.
When you buy books from us you are supporting a small independent business which pays fair taxes. You’re investing in your town. And you’re dealing with friendly humans in the real world, which is good for the soul.

– our bookshop –
Like all bricks and mortar bookshops, ebb & flo is a place to browse – there’s nothing quite like it. Our shop may be small but it’s filled full of treasures waiting to be discovered. Each of our books is hand-picked.
With our speedy ordering service, we can order a book not in stock and usually have it for you within a couple of days.

– totally locally –
Totally Locally Chorley is part of the national award-winning social enterprise creating strong, vibrant towns and sustainable local economies. It’s more than a shop local campaign; it’s about independent businesses working together to lift the whole town and make it shine. TLC businesses are working hard to showcase hidden gems in the town centre, to create a sense of community & independent spirit. We want to remind everyone that coming into Chorley and spending even a small amount in the independent businesses, will help retain the unique feel of the town, attract other lovely shops, cafes & bars and make us all proud to live in such a special Northern town.

A weakness for American literature esp Southern Gothic and Armistead Maupin. Intends to read more poetry. Best part of the job – our lovely customers, buying books for the shop and pretending they’re for me, everything really.
Jayne
Bookseller at 18, librarian at 30, bookseller again at 55. Approaching 40 years in the book world. Best part of the job – recommending something I’ve loved and selling it!
Wendy
Eclectic reader. Passionate about children’s books & telling stories. Best part of the job – chatting to fellow book lovers and reading stories to little ones.

Enjoys reading about the experiences of other people, from Diary of Samuel Pepys to Raynor Winn’s The Salt Path. Best part of the job – trying to find the perfect book for gift-buying customers.
